Please pass my thanks to everyone involved in the organisation of the Basque Living event over the last two days. It was wonderful, useful and very interesting. Judging by the comments on the aeroplane returning to London, everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. From my personal point of view: · I loved the hotel, the people we met and the interesting river trip · the presentation on Bilbao regeneration by Ibon Areso was fascinating and illuminating; we all agreed that we could have listened to more of him speaking and a little longer to see the pictures on the screens. The history of Bilbao and indeed the whole Basque country is of interest to us. · I loved the evening on the Terrace, the food was superb, the company excellent and the drink flowed, with much laughter and some business talk too. · Breakfast on the terrace with the one of the best city views in the world was a delight and lunch was clever and tasty. · Your “speed dating” idea was fun and worked, though I think that the appointment system was not so clever. There were people that I wanted to see, so I saw them separately, but the timings were also too short. · the only difficult part of the whole trip was the architect Antonio Lamela Martinez who I think managed to upset a few of the architects in the room with what they perceived as “conceit” with his views. Several walked out rather than say anything to upset our hosts. For my point of view, I simply listened because he is an old man and it is rude to do anything otherwise, but it would have been good to have seen some of his work too. I took three designers/architects (Mark Smith, Steve Coombe and Stuart Jones) and they really enjoyed themselves. I think that your exhibitors will definitely see business from them in the future. I hope that you all found it worthwhile. I am now determined to come to see San Sebastian one day. It was a pleasure to meet you. Well done on the organisation and friendly welcome.

Enhorabuena por la organización del evento, la exposición estuvo muy bien diseñada y la mezcla de producto resulto muy interesante para los participantes. La mayoría comentó la excelente hospitalidad y mostraron interés en conocer mejor a las empresas y también su intención de trabajar con ellas porque en su opinión la relación precio/diseño era absolutamente correcta. La conferencia de Ibon Areso fue impresionante, acabo de enviarle un email dándole la enhorabuena. Pienso que su presentación debería aprovecharse cada vez que salís al exterior, y ayudó a entender el viaje por la ría el día anterior, dado que aunque teníamos un guía que iba explicando el trayecto, con el ruido del barco era muy difícil entender sus explicaciones. La elección de Bilbao, incluyendo el hotel fue muy acertada. Espero que este ejercicio dé resultados positivos y ayude a las empresas a entender un poco mejor como funciona este mercado.

Un agrado estar contigo y Leire. También todos con quienes me reuní e Igor con su puntualidad Inglesa. No se entiende lo de país Vasco hasta que se conoce a su gente. Gracias por hacer todo para yo no tener que preocuparme de nada en lo absoluto y tu perfecta coordinación de cada detalle. Nunca me sentí tan regaloneado como la semana recién pasada. The Passport idea was great, small, esay to handle and carry around as a checklist of who was exhibiting as well as to keep check on what had been seen. the passport and key were great references to use while on the move, small, light, convenient and useful!
